Patent Information and Document Unit

Izmir Institute of Technology’s Türkpatent Information and Document Unit started its activities on 25/05/2005 within the framework of the cooperation protocol signed between the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office (Türkpatent) and our Institute. It was established based on producing knowledge and transforming it into a usable value for the benefit of society, which is one of the principles of our Institute. 

Our unit aims to provide all kinds of information and documents they may need regarding industrial property rights to university staff and students in Izmir, persons, institutions, and organizations conducting research and development in the Izmir Technology Development Zone located in the Institute campus, and industrialists. 

In this direction, the unit serves to: 

• Provide the necessary documents and information for application, 
• Answer general questions about intellectual property rights, 
• Provide guidance on which industrial property right protection to benefit from in the concretization and productization of ideas, 
• Examine bulletins and newspapers related to industrial property, 
• Scan CDs, 
• Inform about conducting a patent search on the Internet, 
• Fill in application forms, 
• Transfer developments in intellectual and industrial property rights,  
• Consultation and other matters provide services.
