The Rector’s Message

Dear Students,

The İzmir Institute of Technology (IZTECH) is currently the only institute of technology in Turkey. IZTECH is a state research university founded in 1992 with the aim of significantly contributing to society through advanced research and higher education in scientific and technological fields.

IZTECH applies higher education models in the fields of engineering, science and architecture, and the medium of instruction is 100% English. IZTECH has gained national and international recognition for their valuable research contributions.

Teknopark İzmir, an IZTECH institution, cultivates valuable knowledge and products by providing research and development opportunities to stakeholders. The IZTECH Innovation Center supports national and international entrepreneurs as they transform their ideas into innovative products.  These establishments help our students develop their professional vision and plan careers within the university industry cooperation framework before and after graduation.

IZTECH values and significantly contributes to Turkey’s research and development (R&D) projects. IZTECH has gained recognition as one of the ten research universities in Turkey, and the only research university in the Aegean Region. The number and variety of IZTECH faculty projects subsidized by national and international funding organizations, and the awards conferred by globally respected institutions, confirm IZTECH’s status as one of the top universities in the country. IZTECH ranks highly in the Turkish Industry and Technology Ministry’s Index of Innovative and Entrepreneurial Universities. It also demonstrates outstanding performance in the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) 100/2000 PhD scholarship program criteria.

The mission of our IZTECH academic staff, the large majority of which studied abroad, is to prepare students to contribute to national scientific and technological development upon graduation. We aim to foster an environment that supports your transformation into public role models.
