IZTECH is the 153rd Best University in the World in GreenMetric 2023

Izmir Institute of Technology ( IZTECH) succeeded in becoming the 153rd best university in the world in the International GreenMetric 2023 ranking, which evaluates universities in areas such as sustainability, education and research.

In GrrenMetric, which evaluates universities in areas such as infrastructure, energy, climate change, waste, water resources, transportation and education, this year IZTECH increased its ranking by 44 places compared to last year and ranked 153rd. Ranked 153rd among 1183 universities, IZTECH, a thematic university, has added a new one to its recent achievements.

Rector Prof. Dr. Yusuf Baran, who made a statement about the success of IZTECH, said the following in his speech: “I am proud and happy to have a good result in the ranking of the world’s most sustainable campuses by an internationally prestigious institution; more importantly, I am proud and happy to have achieved a rapid rise of 44 steps compared to the previous year. Undoubtedly, IZTECH students who wholeheartedly support our work have a great contribution to this success. This world belongs to all of us and in our future, we have problems such as climate change, clean water access, food supply, which are extremely vital for humanity. Universities have the responsibility of producing knowledge that will bring solutions to these problems and raising scientists who will apply this knowledge, as well as raising generations with the awareness of protecting nature. In addition to producing knowledge and technology at our university, we are working to establish a nature-friendly campus life. We provide drinking water from the water we treat, irrigate our campus with rain harvesting, and meet the energy needs of our buildings with renewable energy sources. We will continue to work, produce and make a difference for a more beautiful and livable world, to build an exemplary campus in every sense with our students, staff and academicians.”
